FAQ
Sydney Wedding FAQ
Weddings are big occasions and choosing the best fit wedding photographer and/or videographer is one of the most important decisions for the couples. For the majority, this is their first time getting married. It is natural to have many questions. This FAQ is to help address the many common questions to allow brides and grooms to have better understanding of how wedding photographers work and what to expect on the day and the whole journey. Please do reach out if you have any other questions and how we can help.
What is your photography style?
My style is a blend of documentary and fine-art — I focus on capturing real moments as they naturally unfold, with gentle guidance when needed for beautiful, relaxed portraits. The result is imagery that feels authentic, emotional, and timeless.
Do you pose us or keep it natural?
I’ll never leave you awkwardly wondering what to do — but I won’t over-pose you either. I give simple, natural prompts so you can move, laugh, and connect in a way that feels real to you. We’re awkward in front of the camera — is that okay?
We’re awkward in front of the camera — is that okay?
Absolutely. Almost every couple says this 😄
My job is to help you feel comfortable, relaxed, and like yourselves. You don’t need to be “photogenic” — you just need to show up and be in love.
How long should we book in advance?
Most clients book between 12-18 months in advance. Typically, wedding venues and photographers are the first two wedding vendors that will be booked by brides. The earlier you boo, the more likely your chosen date will be free.
What is the booking process?
Please do browse through our website and make sure our style, our images, and our approach to wedding photography resonate with you both. Once confirmed, a contract will be sent out. The date will be set aside for you when the contract is signed and deposit is paid.
Why the wedding photography deposit is non-refundable?
Wedding services tend to be exclusive as most vendors can only work with one couple per day. Thus, the date needs to be set aside for you since the day you book and future enquiries will be turned away. Thus, the deposit allows the vendors to have certainty about the work ahead. Therefore, you will find that most wedding vendors do have a non-refundable policy on deposit. This is also true for our wedding photography and videography services.
Who owns the copyrights?
In Australia, by law, the original owner of the copyrights are the clients as weddings are private events. However, it is very typical for photographers to state in contract to request clients assign the copyrights to the photographers. The images are then licensed to the clients for personal use.
Can photographers use your wedding images for business purposes?
Even if the photographers own the copyrights to the wedding images, due to privacy law, the photographers would still need to obtain clients permission before they can public use the wedding images. Thus in our contract, you will have the option to allow or not allow us to use your wedding photography. While we would love to show off the artwork, we also want to respect your privacy if required.
How many photos will we receive?
Depending on the chosen wedding photography service and coverage, the number of photos received will vary. Typically, it will be at least 300+ edited images, presented in high resolution Jpeg format.
How long before we receive the products?
We always believe in under promise and over deliver. The contract will state up to 10 working weeks for the delivery time frame. Please look at this as worst case scenario. We will always try to share the images with you as early as possible, with the majority of our cilents will receive their wedding images within a month.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes — Travelling is such a fun part of wedding photography. I have been to 8 countries for my wedding clients, from Bali to Barbados, China to USA.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
You can’t control the weather, but you have full control on how you enjoy your wedding day.
Rain can be incredibly romantic in photos — soft light, moody skies, and intimate moments. I always have backup plans and locations so your photos will still be stunning, whatever the weather.
Do we need second photographer?
A second photographer can be beneficial for big events that have multiple ceremonies and can spread across multiple days. While I do move around quite a bit on your wedding day, a second photographer will always help to give you more images from more angles. If this is important to you, then a second photographer may suit your needs.
Do you offer engagement or pre-wedding sessions?
Yes — engagement and pre-wedding sessions are a beautiful way to get comfortable in front of the camera and create images you can use for invitations, websites, or keepsakes.
Can we customise our photography package?
Absolutely. Every wedding is different, and I’m happy to tailor coverage to suit your timeline, location, and vision.
Do you shoot elopements and intimate weddings?
Yes — I love photographing elopements and small, meaningful celebrations. These often allow for more freedom, adventure, and emotional storytelling.
Will our photos be edited?
Yes — every image is professionally edited for colour, light, and consistency in my signature style. I don’t outsource editing because I want full creative control over how your story is told.
Do you provide raw, unedited files?
I don’t provide raw files, as they’re incomplete and don’t reflect the final artistic vision you’re booking me for. However, if raw files are important to you, they could be purchased at additional costs.
Can we request specific photos or moments?
Of course. If there are special people, traditions, or moments that matter deeply to you, let me know — I’ll make sure they’re captured.
Do you help with timeline planning?
Yes — I help you build a relaxed, realistic timeline that allows space for real moments and beautiful light, so you never feel rushed.
Are you insured?
Yes — I’m fully insured and operate professionally, so you can relax knowing everything is covered.
